'In complete shock': Sydney man contracts HIV despite taking PrEP drug

https://www.smh.com.au/healthcare/in-complete-shock-sydney-man-contracts-hiv-despite-taking-prep-drug-20190321-p5165z.html

Key points:
  • 'PrEP' known a preventive drug for HIV
  • A Sydney man has been diagnosed with HIV despite taking PrEP
  • 99% effective in preventing HIV when taken correctly
  • Half a million people take this medication
  • PrEP: a most powerful HIV preventative we have
  • PrEP effectively prevents HIV transmission
  • Mr Spencer lives "happily and healthily with HIV
  • less exposure to medication, potentially fewer side-effects, and lower costs when using after and before the time of sexual events
Summary:

Steven Spencer positive for HIV despite taking PrEP drug for many years. He really shocks because that is extremely rare. Approximately half a million people use this medication in the world. PrEP only work if people use it frequently. Dr Russell advised people should tell that with their doctor to have the best HIV's prevention.

Personal reflection:

I think PrEP drug is very useful because it can nearly prevent HIV. PrEP is the best drug we have now so individuals should continue using this drug. The poor man in the article unluckily contracts HIV should be more taken care of by the doctors.
